Aren’t you the girl who talks about love and chastity?

Yes, I am. And I always will be. But a few years ago I made some changes in the way I run my ministry. Instead of supporting Real Love, Inc. and myself solely through speaking engagements, I'm now supporting myself and the ministry through my work as a Realtor.

Why are you doing this?

As many of you know, I I traveled and spoke full-time for over twenty years. That’s a pace no one can continue forever. It took a toll –particularly on my health. This began as a way to balance my income so I’m not traveling quite so much.

Why real estate?

It was a very natural move, really. I’ve always been the freak who insists on going house-hunting with everyone I know (and plenty of people I don’t.) I have found homes for more friends, acquaintances and fellow parishioners than a lot of real estate agents have. I’ve always followed the Denver market closely, even when I didn’t live here. I know it like the back of my hand. So, in many ways, it’s not a change at all. I just relinquished my “amateur” status and went “pro.”

And, it’s another opportunity to follow the example of Pope John Paul II – to recognize the image and likeness of God in every human person, and to look out for what is absolutely best for them. I practice that in my real estate business just as I do in my ministry.

How's it going?

Great! Turns out I'm really good at this! In my second year in the business, I qualified for RE/MAX's exclusive "100% Club," and I've qualified for it every year since. I've received the Certified Residential Specialist designation, which is held by only 4% of Realtors nationwide. And, best of all, I've developed a whole community of clients -- buyers and sellers -- who remain my friends to this day!

Can I call you at one of the real estate numbers or on your cell phone to schedule you to speak or ask a ministry-related question?

No – please don’t!! Those numbers are reserved for the real estate side of my business only. I know that a lot of you want to talk to me directly to ask questions about my ministry or your children or whatever. I simply can’t – there are too many of you and only one of me. If you call me on my real estate lines with anything other than legitimate real estate business, I will refer you back to Lavina at 888-667-4992. Please respect this request. If I start getting a flood of calls on these lines, I’ll have to change the numbers and stop publishing them – a serious disadvantage in the real estate business!!

What will happen to Real Love, Inc.?

Nothing – except that, in the long run, it will be better funded and producing more resources. The real estate venture is incorporated as a division of Real Love Inc. Between the additional funding and the increased stability, I am able to devote a greater percentage of my ministry-related time to writing and developing chastity-related resources.
